The album is one of the few hip hop albums to be released by King of the South Entertainment, a company formed by Knight after he founded Death Row Records.[10] The only other Death Row album to be released by King of the South Entertainment was the 1991 rap drama album Straight Outta Compton, in which Knight would go on to produce tracks with Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. That same year, Suge Knight co-founded Death Row Records which, until 1996, had previously been a small local label for Shakur. When Knight left Death Row Records he founded and became the Chairman of TKKBK (The Kingkiller Chronicles Book and Concerts). The concert tour is a joint venture between Knight and Amaru Records and was officially launched in 1998 in order to give an opportunity to Shakur's fans to hear him perform live again. The tour was dubbed You Don't Have To Worry 'Bout Nothin'.

The album was certified platinum in the United States by the RIAA on January 12, 2004, and gold in the UK on February 22, 2002. It is Shakur's best selling album, having been certified gold for 2 million copies in the United States and 2.5 million in Canada.[14] 827ec27edc
