Hey Eric - I believe that one of the best ways to learn to play a keyboard is to try it out and just play around on it. When you do that, it provides an experience that a person can't just learn from a book. And, I would suggest that you seek out some good recordings of some of the great keyboard players and listen to them while trying to emulate what they did. While your playing is probably not at the same level of the greats, listening to the recordings of others and watching what they do will certainly help you get a better idea of what to do on the keyboard.
